Salome J. Muna

Salome J. Muna, founder of the Salome Foundation.
My childhood was tough. I was raised by a single mother who did not have enough income to take care of me or herself.
This affected my living conditions and access to education significantly. I was forced to work at a young age so that I could feed myself and also pay for my own school fees.

Amid my struggle, I was fortunate to get sponsorship from the Give a Heart to Africa organisation. I took a one-year course in business which contributed a lot in improving my standard of living. I felt empowered and achieved some financial independence which is not easy for a woman in Tanzania.

I started the Salome Foundation in 2019 and formally registered in 2023 as an NGO. The Salome foundation is a platform for supporting women and girls who lead vulnerable lives, especially widowed mothers. It is a way for myself and other good-hearted people to give back to the community. The Salome Foundation focuses on providing support and education to underprivileged groups so they might unleash their potential and became self-reliant.

Chaga Village Tours

I am a trained entrepreneur and tour guide. I am originally from Singida-Tanzania but moved to Moshi city, Tanzania, where I currently live with my husband and three beautiful children. I live on the foothills of Kilimanjaro mountain where I invite international visitors to my home to experience local village life. People can spend a day working with me and my neighbours in the Chaga village in Old Moshi Town. I also grow and process organic coffee grown in my own garden.
